The Xtreamer can be fed from many sources... USB sticks, external HDDs, internal HDD, Windows Share, UPnP, DVD drive, etc... where do you want to stream from today? :)

Windows Share and UPnP tests were done with wired network cable. FW v1.0.2 should have optimized wireless network drivers so streaming 720p content could work smoothly.

Update 2009/10/17
Please note that files in this review or on other places which fail for having Dolby TrueHD or dts-hd, will most likely pass with the soon available firmware 2.0 which will support Dolby TrueHD downmixing and dts-hd downmixing and bitstream/passthrough.

Here is a demonstration of the zooming feature while watching videos or photos - followed by another video based on the new firmware v1.0.3 showing some cover art and demonstrating the video skipping feature and ability to change subtitle colors and their outline colors.

Don't be irritated: after zooming into hotty Megan Fox I also used the camcorder zoom to zoom close to her face and zoomed out again after continuing playback of the movie. As you can see, there is currently no option to lock the ratio of width:height but this should be easily fixed in the next or next next or even next next next firmware :)

By the way: it's interesting to point out that for some videos it does make a difference whether you play the file from an internal or from an external HDD. Just see the results for the Casino Royale clips on the following pages to see what I mean.

So the best storage source to play these extra-super-duper-no1-needs-this-kind-of-bitrate-or-container-combinations files is the internal HDD. But just to get this straight: the majority of your movie files will also play smoothly from external hard disks or a wired Windows share! The test clips which mostly failed are either badly encoded or just out-of-spec.
