TVersity

TVersity is a really cool UPnP streaming server for your PC. It enables much more content than the Xtreamer already offers. One good reason to use it: it offers HD content and I had no problem streaming 720p content to the Xtreamer. In some cases 1080p worked, in other cases it didn't but these other cases also resulted in problems when I tried to watch them on my PC so I guess it's not a Xtreamer "bug" in this case. Solutions to this would be to let TVersity transcode the content before streaming.

In the following video I used the TVersity Free edition to test streaming of 720p videos. The documentary about Seoul, Korea played well and smooth. Pausing and frame skipping is working, fast forwarding with 1.1x, 1.2x 1.5x and 2x is playing along with audio, very funny. When I changed to the Hubblecast Full HD stream the video stuttered/jerked but as already mentioned, the video played even worse on my PC somehow. I assume it's the content itself as my internet connection (20MBit via Cable) should be sufficient. Changing back to lower HD resolution of the Hubblecast HD content works like a charm.

There is also a Pro version of TVersity which offers more streams from Hulu (for US residents) or BBC! It costs about 30 EUR.
