Replace Fan

One of the easiest ways to have your Xtreamer running as silent as possible is to apply one of the following popular modifications to it. The first effective mod which was successfully copied by many customers is the Scythe mod which uses a HDD cooler with a silent fan integrated into the heatsink (left). A few months after the Xtreamer was initially launched, the official UK partner Tranquil PC offered a passive solution. The XSC is a massive heatsink covering one side of the Xtreamer (middle). In January 2010 Xtreamer will offer their own cooling solution, the Sidewinder, which will look similar to the XSC but covering both sides of the player. The Xtreamer team claims that the Sidewinder will be lower priced and performing better than the one side solution, while keeping the weight lower as well. We will see. Whatever solution you will choose, the cooling performance of these mods will beat the default configuration of the Xtreamer (right) by far. But be aware that by disassembling the Xtreamer case you will void your warranty! If you don't want to risk this you should stop reading right here :) otherwise... enjoy modifying your Xtreamer!
